Sandi, Feature E which reads: "E. Display at least X characters but no more than Y (When displaying multiple messages, display at least the first X characters of a message but don't display more than Y where X and Y are set in the user's configuration)" is to shorten long messages when you are reading multiple messages. Without this feature if you are "getting 100 messages" and some of them are huge then you've got to scroll through the huge ones and this slows you down. With this feature the huge messages get chopped off after "Y" characters so you don't have to scroll so much. If you want to read the entire huge message then click on the message number and the whole message opens. I find this useful since there are often a bunch of really long messages and many of them are repeats of some article and I don't want to have scroll through them.
