Chuck Berry and Little Richard were the fathers of rock, imo. I haven't seen the list, but I'm sure I'll get irritated if I look at it.

It is very tough to come up with one number one, but Satisfaction is not it. Paint It Black is (arguably) the best Stones song. Satisfaction is just a "signature" song. Anyway, there are so many contenders: Peggy Sue, Don't Worry Baby, Here Comes the Sun, I'll Be Your Mirror (Velvet Underground), Only Love Can Break Your Heart (Neil Young), The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down (The Band), I Shall Be Released (Dylan), The Man Who Sold the World (Bowie), And You and I (Yes), A Case of You (Joni Mitchell)----- I could go on and on........
