levy, this week Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, and CS First Boston independently host Latin American internet conferences. The sector could get a boost. BTW, the following news has not been widely disseminated.

Brazil Cell Co ATL,Starmedia To Launch
Wireless Web Svc

SAO PAULO -- Brazilian cellular carrier Algar Telecom Leste SA,
known as ATL, and Starmedia Network Corp. (STRM) Monday said
they have entered a pact to provide ATL subscribers with Internet
services.

In a press release, the companies said ATL Express will be the first service
in the states of Rio de Janeiro and Espiritu Santo to offer its subscribers
features such as e-mail and a Web portal to be accessed over their cell
phones.

Starmedia will provide content and technical support.

Both companies declined to provide further details prior to a press
conference scheduled for Wednesday.

ATL is managed by U.S.-based SBC Communications Inc. (SBC). Other
shareholders include Williams Communications Inc. (WCG) and Telefonos
de Mexico SA (TMX).

Starmedia already has a similar agreement with Telemig Celular, a carrier
in the state of Minas Gerais.
