re: "How much profit do you think Intel earns from Celeron?"

Approximateley MINUS $35 on the cheaper celeroNs under an agreement that inteL is rumored to have made with gatewaY back in the Fall when they promised huge amounts of advertising money anticipating high priced pee iiIx's to average out the lost money on cheaper chips with a $50/chip advertising rebate. inteL could not deliver and there may be a disagreement between the two companies as to how much gatewaY is actually owed.

If what I have heard is correct: "HOW STUPID CAN inteL BE?" It may have been much smarter to take the big financial hit than to provide proof of just how bad relying on a single source is to the entire marketplace. This may have profound long term effects on inteL's marketing efforts: "The enemy of my enemy...." and etc.

Regards,

DARBES

Greater fool,
RE:"How much profit do you think Intel earns from Celeron?"

Most estimates say that the Celeron .25 costs between 25 and 30 dollars.

Greater And Greater Fool - Re: "How much profit do you think Intel earns from Celeron?"

A Helluva lot more than AMD makes from their K6-shooters.
