Ancor sees fourth quarter loss

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., Jan 10 (Reuters) - Ancor Communications Inc., a firm that makes Fibre Channel communications networks products, said Monday that it expects to report a net loss for its fourth quarter of 8 and 10 cents a share.

Analysts consensus estimate for the fourth quarter is a loss of 5 cents a share, according to First Call/Thomson Financial.

Ancor said unaudited revenues for the quarter will be between $4.4 and $4.6 million, which it called about $600,000 below analysts' consensus estimate. The company expects to report audited results on January 27.

Ancor's net loss for the 1999 third quarter was $1,815,060, or 7 cents a share. Its previous fourth quarter loss was also 7 cents a share.

Chief executive Ken Hendrickson said, ``In spite of these results, we are pleased with the strong market interest in our new SANbox series, the broadest, most scalable switch product line in the industry. Our existing customer relationships remain strong as well, and we continue to foster these relationships to help our partners grow the SAN market. Looking ahead, we expect first quarter revenues to be roughly balanced among our major customers.'
