I think you overestimate COMS success in the enterprise and LU's desire to be a presence there.

First if you take away COMS modem and nic business (this really includes DSL and Cable Modems and NIC's) there's not a whole lot left. Yes a smattering of routers, switches and hubs... all have minor amounts of market share.

Second if you look at LU - their only desire in the enterprise is to keep CSCO busy so they are less effective in penetrating the carrier space (much like NT). They wouldn't spend $20-$30B and all the management issues to do this ... They'd be better of with CS who has more presence than COMS in true enterprise (non-modem) deployments and far less management/pooling issues.
