<<Gupta was the pioneer in the windows based client server tools, and it was his vision that built CNTR. CNTR had the
potential to be the big daddy of C/S computing, but Gupta's arrogance, a non-existent PR and Marketing, a frustrating
tech support all led to their demise. And Gupta himself was given the boot>> have a recent interview with Umang in which he slams himself----and his lack of vision, and having gotten hung up on his own product,he is elsewhere now,and saying he will not make the same mistakes.
I found the interview to reveal him to be a very self-effacing and honest and modest. Shivram you yourself have said that you have been studying B2B so closely, that you have lost site of other things---such as wireless---as it was pointed out this stock started to move with the acquisition of Raima---how did Scott do it---well he did--that's enough.Good Luck,Max

>>>About their tech support I don't know because I don't use it anymore.<<<

I think most of Centura developers have been heavily relying on Centura's On-Line User Group to seek any suggestions/ideas. Reading some of the messages on various forums, you can feel the frustrations some had when dealing with Centura's tech support and most people consider User Group is a much more reliable resource than Centura's technical support. For instance, I have never received a real response after I sent my question to them. It's a good thing that there exists a very thigh Centura Developer Community. I'm still using Centura's database and tool beside other vendors' products. I'll be using it forever and ever.<g> Considering the fact that I'm also a long term (way too long) investor on CNTR, people should understand why I'm here.:-)

Shivram, thanks for the post. We can get now more discussion here.
As I admire Umang, he was the person with vision. Bad for the company, that institutions decided to change him with basketball players (Sam Inman and Helmuth Wilke was very tall persons, compared to me, Umang and Scott). I think, that market did'nt give Umang a change to go finish. I remember one article in PC magazine (immediatley after Umang was gone), which told "Umang Gupta, the ex. CEO of Gupta Technologies was interested mostly HP Palm Pilot and other small devices in Comdex". It was around 5 years ago.
And about tech support and marketing, the best tech support strategy is to allow programmers to show himself by "You damn fool, this is the way to do it" and best marketing is "You stupid, why don't You use XXXX". At least Microsoft did it this way.
