Oh my I have done at least a year's worth of that...getting better but last year I was awful. Luckily S.I. friends were very kind and patient, even supportive!

So far I believe I'm using margin as I use any other debt (except my mortgage): short-term and where the benefits outweigh the burdens.

That gets back to Frank's issue about using margin as a form of market timing. Timing rarely works and it never consistently works. Add the increased tax consequences of short-term gains and the potential for increased reward is less than the potential for increased risk in my mind. Be careful.
