Re: Rambus

I'm sorry if this link has already been posted, but I believe this article attempts to describe Rambus' gorilla characteristics (or lack of).

fnews.yahoo.com

There's discussion of Rambus ability to become a PC "standard" as well as the fact that Rambus business is heating up this year (a la tornado?).

No position in Rambus, but it's looking better recently.

AT&T appears, to be fully committed and moving feverishly forward with planing for the overhaul of their network using EDGE.
Eric, I understand that Edge can get speeds up to 384kbps, well short of the 2.4 mbps CDMA HDR rates being predicted by Q. If this is so, wouldn't T be left in a backwater by building out Edge while competing with a better solution in CDMA? Or am I missing something?

Good points Eric, though I, for one, believe that T will eventually be forced by the market to go CDMA. They are no longer the rule maker.

Regarding Eudora, I put $0 value in QCOM's Eudora business. I, too, switched to Outlook about 2 years ago, even though Eudora was our corporate standard. The only reason we were using Eudora was because the CEO did not want to spring for an Exchange server. Well, last week the whole corporation went to Outlook and everyone is wondering why it wasn't done sooner, because Outlook is so much more capable. It replaced GoldMine, too.

Eric, you are 100% correct on this, a friend and neighbor of mine who was chief tech officer at TPCG before they were bought out by T(and has recently left T). Has told me that T is going to Edge for sure. If it doesn't work or can't meet demand T maybe in bigger trouble then they are in now.
