OT - Thoughts on Shortsters from an older post, at an appropriate time:

My experience in life has shown me that there are two types of people here on this beautiful
world of ours, the builders and the destroyers.

The Builders generally have a positive outlook on life. Using whatever tools are at their
disposal, they will build, embellish and contribute. When their time on earth comes to an
end, they can leave peacefully, knowing that with their efforts they left a Legacy behind for
others to build upon.

On the other hand, Destroyers rejoice in tearing down the efforts and struggles of others.
When the destroyers' time comes to an end, they turn around to proudly see their
accomplishments only to find rubble.

>>>The moral of the story being, it is best to earn $1 knowing you've accomplished
something beautiful than to earn $1 million knowing you've destroyed what was once
beautiful.

SUBMARINE FIBER OPTICS

China-US Cable Network to Begin Operations on Monday
Forty-five telecommunications carriers from around the world will kick off
Monday the operations of a vast underwater cable network linking China,
Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and the United States, KDD Corp. KDD, AT&T
Corp. of the United States, and China Telecom are among the carriers.
The 20,000-km fiber optic cable, called the China-US Cable Network,
traverses the Pacific Ocean from Chiba Prefecture in Japan to the U.S.
west coast city of Bandon, after linking China, South Korea, Taiwan and
Guam with Japan. The cable will provide the telecom carriers with an
additional combined capacity of 80 Gbps.
They are currently expanding the overall capacity of the network by adding
another 10,000-km cable linking Guam with the US west coast city of San
Luis Obispo, and then with Bandon. In addition, KDD is building the
Japan-US Cable, another underwater fiber optic cable linking Japan and the
US, with the project expected to be completed by the year-end.
