I don't think they make them slave over their work...lot of startups do that.......I guess CSCO makes them work *at* it.....and it is one of the few comapnies which follows the inverted triangle structure when allocating employee options to the staff. The do-ers often get more options than do the managers...!!!

Very particular about the *C* word - Customer Satisfaction!
Eventually that pays off big time. When that Asian crisis happened, I remember lots of companies reduced head count, cut budgets and some even closed their offices across Asia. CSCO added to their infrastructure, head count was increased by leaps and bounds, new offices were opened in China and Hong Kong....I'm not sure but I think Chambers' visit to Asia was around that time, to offer continued support to them thru the crisis.......

Whereas the other companies were thinking of the next quarter numbers - Chambers was thinking of long term future in Asia.....

If you know - Asians never forget ! And they do business only with friends !!!

I think thats why I like AMZN long term......
