I don't know if this has been posted yet, but here is the link to the replay of the conference call yesterday.

My take is that the traditional businesses were slower than expected while the DWDM w/OC-192 was white hot. The explanations for the weakness were kind of unconvincing IMHO, although the deferred software revenue makes sense given Mr. Fun's point about the 500 million in question. It is a difficult story to swallow that the existing businesses were slow, but we could have made it if we had met demand in DWDM.

I am still convinced, however, that I have to give these guys 2 more quarters to bring home the bacon.

Andy -- IN my opinion, you are trivializing LU's challenges. "Scaling down" non-optical business means scaling down a huge piece of the LU pie. You just don't scale down such a large percentage of revenues overnight (2 quarters).

Somewhat similar to 3Com's challenges: they are trying to "scale down" their NIC and modem business, which was their (and USR's) "legacy" business. We all know how that one is going...
