The SEC won't allow you to trade options in your IRA, as I understand it. Now if you have certain self setup retierment accounts, you can trade in them, but you have to get an "approved" IRS account setup by someone who does this sort of thing. I believe that you also have to be self employed. I am not sure, but when I spoke to the group at Schwab, they told me the type (I think a 403b thing) and that I could set it up for about $500 - $1000.

The reason you can't trade options in your IRA is that it is ALWAYS coupled with a margin account and you cannot have a margin account in your IRA, since if you trigger the margin call you may have to contribute money to get it back out of margin and you cannot do that legally under IRA rules.

If you guys are doing it, I would be very surprised.
