I figure some brokerages not allowing options in IRA's is response to legal/political culture. Just need one or two "victims" to scream they lost their IRA/401K life savings because they were "allowed" to trade in risky options and here come the law suits and the U.S. Congress passing restrictive laws on how you can and can't invest your own money. Because of the "day trading" focus prompted by the Georgia shooting I really expect to see some restrictive investment legislation considered/passed this year.
