It's digital. They just added local stations - which I declined, but they still give them. I have good NY station reception. There are @100 PPV movies running continuously. You press a button on the remote and you get it. The box has a modem and it gets downloaded from time to time. One of the best features is the online guide which allows you to look ahead days and gives instant descriptions of every program. directv.com Just plug in your zip and they'll give you the coordinates.
