Ike, What the market makers will say is that they had to "freshen" the bid side. The truth is, you probably got screwed.

Back in the stone age, i.e., the last millennium, these options were listed on the CBOE only. Now they are on 4 different exchanges, and, I am told, they are not obligated to compete with each others' quotes. What probably happened is that you saw the P-Coast (vol=0) bid that they fell asleep and left up, while the trade was done at the CBOE (vol=433). I never place an option order at market. I also find out where my broker routes the order and look at the quote for that market, as well as the consolidated quote.
