Joe,

re: Sony and Lexar in bed

The agreement allows Lexar to license Memory Stick media specifications from Sony and thereby manufacture and market Memory Stick media.

IMHO it is unusual that a company as big as Sony would chose Lexar Media, a company which states that it is focused on the digital photography market, to manufacture Memory Stick. I can understand that their controller technology may be interesting or useful, but Lexar doesn't even control their own supply of flash chips. The web site states they are technology partners with Toshiba.
But aren't Toshiba/Panasonic competing with Sony to begin with???
Maybe Lexar is planning to tap Hitachi or Samsung on the shoulder for their flash wafers.

I suspect Lexar will be one of a multitude of Memory Stick fabricators assuming sales take off.
