C-Cube makes the encoder chips that author almost all DVD discs. C-Cube is number one in market share for DVD decoder chips. Gross margins on the semi biz are high 50s. Yes, C-Cube is a very good DVD play, but it is much more. The only negative part of the biz is the VCD market. C-Cube's revenues from VCD was $220M in 1996, $75M in 1999, and below $40M in 2000.

C-Cube claims a 30% market share of DVD Players. Their numbers, and the market size suggests it's higher then that.
