Certainly the response has been, ah, vigorous. My feewings have been so tewwibwy hurt!

I glad to see your feelings are intact; I thought Mani may have come on a little strong but in general, I think people have been pretty decent. BTW you might want to post with Elmer....he talks like you do from time to time.

This is coupled with the adversarial Intel-AMD relationship, which takes the form, for example, of Paul Engel appearing to hate AMD more than he loves Intel.

Its not unlike the football rivalry between Stanford and USC.

I wonder if microprocessors will take center stage again in the future when bandwidth issues are resolved.

I don't think so...I believe they have had their day although I don't think they will disappear or be replaced by info. appliances. I think it will be the net and net permutations that will hold center stage for a while.

Suffice it to say I am an investor in neither AMD nor Intel. I frankly don't think either company has, from a stock price point of view, a bright future.

I agree....I think the fight that AMD is waging is exciting but as investment prospects neither is that great. Having said that, Intel has the possibility of evolving into a representative of a more dynamic industry but I think it needs to spend its cash reserves very wisely to have that happen.

Thanks to all for your comments and ideas, and good luck to all, long and short, as we await AMD's own comments on the 19th.

You certainly have brought a fresh perspective to the views on this thread and generated some controversy in the process.

Good luck.

ted
