Well lets start with the first in the list ALTR.

What is the upside in the stock - ie if things go well.

What is the downside - if the comms industry slows down -where its major market is.

Their FGPA products are mainly used to suck up logic.
As designers want to do SOC (system on chip) designs and integrate IP blocks - such CPU, memory, special I/O's like USB, Firewire etc what does that do to the FPGA market?

In case you don't know low end FPGA products like the 10K family are pretty low margin. The 100K family has margins that are getting lowered as we speak. And the Apex family is a tad behind Xilinx right now.

Oh and what happens once TSMC turns off FAB capacity as they are gonna start FLASH wafers - they are more profitable right now than selling logic - just in case you didn't know this.
