The action has been good this week -- nice steady move up the past few days.

Hi R, I have to admit being very impressed with GENE's performance during a trying week.

With the method I use, I can set "resistance" to both buying and selling independently. In GENE's case, I left the "Sell Resistance" where it usually was, but increased the "Buy Resistance" to keep from buying back shares too soon. GENE ran up so fast that I expected it to retreat further than it did. With the good support it showed during a rather interesting week, I may want to soften up the resistance again.

Over the years with this investment, the pattern in the past has been sharp rises followed later by very slow declines. Because of this, I slow the "burn rate" of my cash reserve by raising resistance to buying shares back. Even so, with the last peak and decline (going back to '97) I probably started buying back shares to soon.

As GENE grows and matures as a biotech company the trading patterns of the past probably will change. I've seen it in other investments. Now the challenge is for me to adapt to that change successfully.

Currently my program is set to sell off about 5% of my holding at $19+ but not to buy back shares unless the price were to fall below $8. That's a huge range and not what I usually use. Should GENE keep its price moving along and the 26 week moving average rises to the mid-teens, then I'll probably let off on the Buy Resistance.

I'm glad for the increased activity here on the GENE thread. I was feeling rather lonely here for the last couple of years!!!

Best regards, Tom

re: "I would not want to be short this stock early next week. This thing is poised to take off."
