Asahi, Japanese newspaper, reported that Mr. Nakamura, chief researcher in Nichia, leaves for
University of California, Santa Babara in February. Mr. Nakamura (45) has mada a significant
contribution to blue diode and purple laser. He said that he wants to have more research time. If

<<< This means, IMHO, that the Nichia blue laser development is not going well.

Furthermore, Nakamura is THE MAN for Nichia's laser work. They have lost him.

This means that Cree's only major competition in blue laser development has hit a brick wall.
(Of course, as you all know, Nakamura (Nichia) was using Saphire substrate, not SiC)
