The browser shut-downs are common...especially if you're using Netscape and accessing sites that are running Java. Best cure is to run IE instead, and second best is to ensure you're running the latest version of Netscape.

The other problems are a little more difficult...ugh. It sounds like those supposedly inert components of McAfee are screwing up Outlook...have you tried a delete and reinstallation of Outlook?

Also, Microsoft has several service updates out for Outlook at this site: officeupdate.microsoft.com
Might be something there that could help.

I'll look into this more deeply (and ask around) to see if I can give you a better answer.
