I don't know what I'd pick for my three. Will have to cogitate.
(I thought some homes had indoor plumbing in late 19th century.)
(Maybe will have to search for Thomas Crapper.)

Jose'..I'll go with..and these are social "things"
1) MLK/Civil rights/Women's rights---an attempt at equal rights, which still hasn't been achieved.
2) Sexual revolution (the pill, porno, media, etc.)---this also involves the de-mystifying of religion as the supreme guiding force in society.
3) the Beatles/Bob Dylan--actually relates to 1 and 2 by way of the power shift between generations (ie..young people refused to be ignored)
