I agree with the why reinvent the wheel. The product is good, and companies will be willing to pay for that.

I know a fair amount about OS's. The more I think about the functions in these devices more I agree a OS standard will be needed. Not so much in the first generation of player. But as the devices get more complex and the functions on the players and the file types expand, a standard interface to write the functions to will be needed.
