There is no doubt that CPQ knew that IBM would leave and it's logical to believe that HWP will leave as well. I'm certain that was assumed before the cake was cut. As to WMT, this could provide some kind of an inroad at best and at least, can't hurt. It's always nice to see WMT, INTC, MSFT, and CPQ mentioned in the same sentence. El

Jack - one interesting thing about the announcement was that Inacom was doing BTO for DELL - I thought DELL had all this wonderful proprietary stuff that made them the BTO king, why were they subbing to Inacom? As far as the rest, that's what "gravy" is all about - just something added. If Inacom's facilities were good and the other channel based folks were using it, than CPQ not only builds their own capability, they deny it to their competitors. IBM seems on a path to do some distribution deal with DELL. If both DELL and IBM were using Inacom for BTO, maybe that delays any joint distribution stuff for them, also good for CPQ. As far as using the full capacity, given that CPQ has almost none of its current product being delivered BTO through Inacom, I would imagine that they could pretty quickly use up the existing capacity. Just look at the numbers for Inacom vs. CPQ units - no doubt that even a slight shift to this BTO channel will use the whole capacity.
