I think there are two reasons:

1. The SP500 has many oil companies, banks, health care companies. In recent years the financial, health care and energy sectors are not as strong as the tech sectors.

2. The weaker funds are not posted. At any one time there are several sectors much stronger or much weaker than the SP500. In my SI posts I only list the 15 top funds, and the SP500. Since the weak funds are not posted, it appeared that the SP500 is weak relative to the strongest funds.
