Rande, "FEAR OF ZEROS". Lets see, in 1920 it took 5 yrs to recover, 1940-5 yrs, 1960-16 mos, 1970-11 mos, 1990-4 mos. Looks like the recovery time is going down each time and seeing how we are now on cyber-time maybe 2000 recovery is well on it's way to being over.
As for brokers I use Datek. They almost always execute within a few seconds and have a running balance right there on the daily activity page which gives you your cash balance including commissions. The portfolio page gives you all cash and share balances. Trades are 10 bucks and free if not done in one min. The big drawback is that they do not allow trades of OTC or offer IPOs. I've only had to call them once (posted a sell order twice and had me short) and found them to be very friendly and fixed the problem right away, in fact by the time I got off the phone and called up the daily activity page the change was already posted. They have free realtime, but it screws up every now and then. Just my two cents, Shroom
