Saturday, January 8, 2000

MUMBAI: India's foreign currency assets (FCA) increased by US dollar 195 million to US dollar 31,992 million during the week ended December 31, 1999, reports PTI.

The total foreign exchange reserves were, however, up by only US dollar 96 million to US dollar 34,935 million, because of a US dollar 99 million dip in gold reserves, according to Reserve Bank of India's weekly statistical supplement.

During the fortnight ended December 17, bank credit to the commercial sector increased by Rs 3,452 crore. The increase so far in the current financial year has been Rs 23,611 crore, against Rs 10,587 crore in the corresponding period last year.
