UF,

<< For ltb&h low risk/reward investing, the Silverbacks are always a great choice >>

I agree with your comments and for that reason I balance my investment in the young gorilla Q, the potential gorilla GMST, and the Kings JDSU & EMC, with CSCO & MSFT, and until recently INTC.

<< Intel is a cyclical and there are some timing issues related to holding it >>

In addition they simply do not command the valuation of the others.

Re: Silverbacks - Gdichaz, UF, & Sand

I appreciate your responses.

It seems like the three of you have relatively the same way of looking at my question. There are specific risks with the individual Silverbacks nowadays (with the possible exception of CSCO), and it probably isn't fair for me to categorize the thread's lack of silverback holdings as a valuation issue.

UF - I've read of your CSCO leap strategy for a few months now and I agree that it seems like the right way to play the Silverback with the strongest prospects, CSCO. CSCO is probably not going to have a 5-bagger in a year ever again, unless there is a steep correction, so I think the best way to maximize returns would be to leverage your position through LEAPS.

I wish there were a few more Gorillas out there to enhance diversification!

Disclosure: After holding my entire QCOM position, bought in April, I've been shedding a portion of my holdings over the last month, at levels higher and lower than current prices, and diversifying into GMST.
