Malcolm, clearly there are many different trading styles employed by those on this thread. We use, what we need too, to feel in our hearts that we have made the correct decision. Many different styles can win. It all boils down to how much one can handle and for how long. I, for one, am much better at holding thru a correction because I have been thru a few. I believe it will pay off for me to stay long. For others, they do what they need to do to handle the situation, whatever that may be. And that's okay.

This is one of those, "you're all correct"...whatever works for each of us...for myself, like Malcolm, I have no interest in TA and threw fundamental arguments out the windown with the genesis of the net (learned 2 1/2 yrs ago that this was relatively meaningless when betting on futures)...what works for me?...one thing and one thing only: PSYCHOLOGY...forget about what Greenspan may or may not do, forget about the strength of the Yen/dollar, forget about gurus and analysts predicting the end of the bubble, forget about bollinger bands, trend lines, head and shoulder analysis, double bottoms, forget about interest rates, Sony Chairman, PPI, CPI, emp numbers, nonfarm PR, etc, etc...only use your good head to pick the existing or soon to be gorilla plays and determining what delicate piece of psychology will drive not only the mkts, but your specific stock picks...and above all, hold what you married...great earlier post on falling in love with your stock...love my SFTBF, JDSU, QCOM and Trans Cosmos...I just love times when some investors feel like this may be the time they get hammered and sell their shares on the cheap to the smart investors who are willing to take a bit more risk...how many buyers do you think we will have for SFTBF at 700 level when we open next week?...no question for me.

malcolm, while i am not a religious person, to dismiss it completely in an investment forum is prob. not the most prudent thing to do...we should stick to business related topics...jmo...also, while i agree TA does not work consistently(malkiel's "a random walk down wallstreet"), i have been amazed by the predictive nature of bollinger bands lately...i now use bollinger bands in addition to other methods of DD(but in general, i agree that TA is inconsistent)...lucid vision, good decisions and the ability to learn and furthering urself comes with keeping ur eyes open to everything...just a thought.
