Microsoft Unveils Media Player For Pocket PC
January 7, 2000 -- Microsoft has unveiled Windows Media Player for Pocket PCs, saying it will be available for free download in February.

The player supports both Windows Media and MP3 formats and works on all Pocket PC (formerly called Windows CE) handhelds. Microsoft claims that the Windows Media format is more compact, easing downloads and providing twice the playing time than MP3 from files of comparable sizes.

The company also said that Media Player would come standard with future Pocket PC devices starting by the middle of the year.

Hmmm...doesn't Intel and Edig have press that indicates mid-year too?

Thanks. But that is disappointing news. I hope nobody else comes up with a better solution before edig does. I'm sure that won't affect the price Monday.
