no, i am saying that shawshank did carry the theme through. he had plenty to be bitter about, but never gave in. he was wrongly accused and convicted. he was raped and treated poorly. he not only kept his attitude positive, but he was constantly finding ways to improve the lives of folks around him. i was saying i thought frank mccourt was a similar character that wouldn't let anything get him down, but in 'tis, he's pretty neurotic and finds problems in little things all around him.
