It's ironic you guys mentioned Shawshank. I watched it again last night on TNT. A damn fine movie.

Another theme I thought the movie carried was how folks that are "institutionalized" are unable to function when forced to enter the real world.

I believe that people who are carried from cradle to grave, whether through their own choice or not, have this dilemma. Convicts, teachers, and others with "tenure".

Two bits of trivia: (1) The SPCA complained when Andy found a maggot in his first meal and gave it to Brooks to feed to Jake the raven. The SPCA thought it was cruel to the maggot, so a maggot that had died of natural causes was found and used. UFB!!!! (2) I wasn't aware Stephen King had written Shawshank.

I learned something new, again. <gg>
