CS from Firsthand Funds, I have to remind myself every once an awhile why I have CS Cabletron Systems Inc. (CS) is a leading supplier of Local Area Network (LAN) switches. It is one of the few remaining independent data networking equipment companies. Most others have been acquired by one of the bigger, highly integrated networking companies such as Cisco, Nortel, and Lucent. Most recently, FORE systems was acquired by Britain's GEC. We believe that this market will continue to be a high-growth area and that Cabletron is a likely acquisition target of one of the old-line telecommunications companies (e.g. Siemens, Ericsson, Alcatel) that have not yet built a significant presence in data networking equipment. Even without a buyout, we believe that Cabletron is an excellent value stock at this point, based on the growth we foresee in this market.

I have known Tim for about 1 1/2 years now, our backgrounds are very similar. First time I asked for His help He asked for my number and my phone rang about 5 seconds later. We talked for at least a half hour, with Tim In Calif. and me in Florida. I knew about Tim's brother, my sister is deaf and a lipreader. Her speech is not real good, so I had a few fights as a kid when I would hear a wisecrack re Her. I don't post her much now but lurk and keep in touch with Tim on a daily basis. I'm lucky to have such a good friend as Tim, and I trust and respect Him 100% as a trader and more importantly as a friend. Whatever His decision I have His back 24 7.
