CIC AND QNX SOFTWARE SYSTEMS FORM ALLIANCE TO BRING HANDWRITING RECOGNITION TO THE WIRELESS WEB Redwood Shores, CA, January 12, 2000 - (Nasdaq: CICI) Communication Intelligence Corporation (CIC) announced today that it is working on a joint development effort with QNX Software Systems Ltd. to extend CIC's Jot(R) handwriting recognition system to licensees of the QNX(R) realtime operating system. This new development effort is a result of CIC's recent agreement with National Semiconductor (NYSE:NSM) which provides Jot for the Geode(TM) WebPAD(TM), a QNX-based wireless Internet access device for the home or office.
