This model of an independent dot com, affiliated with the brick and mortar, and having its own stock and all the benefits that derive from it, like no need for profit, is starting to catch on.

KyrosL,

I'm sure the resulting web company will be fine. We were talking about the effect on the B&M's stock price. If the web version doesn't become independent immediately, the start-up costs will still be borne by the parent company, adversely affecting the stock price, IMO.

Now, if the B&M company's lunch is being eaten by a company it owns or a competitor, the end result is the same: no lunch.

Wal-Mart will give us a chance to see what actually happens. I'm not too keen on this model, but what can a B&M really do if it's web competitor is willing to use the public's IPO money to subsidize prices ?

Best Trading,
X
