First I've heard of this. Forgive me if I don't get too excited. When HP says something, as opposed to "Big Hammer" I will be concerned. I would need to see a lot more detail.

What is meant by "cache is bad"?

How is it "bad" ?

BullSh*t Y. Samuel. H.P. said nothing of the sort. But when did that ever matter?

Y. and Thread - JC has edited his Cumine cache vs. Bighammer blurb:

JC, if you're reading this, thank you for the clarification. I appreciate the fact that in the light of the scant info available, such a disclaimer was posted.

Looking forward to more detail as it becomes available.

Edit: There's been some concern over the reliability of bighammer. Okay, here's the deal: In my opinion, if bighammer says he did something, it happened. He's not a liar, and I respect him a lot -- he was one of the guys on the message boards (he posted at cpu-central or somewhere like that way back, I forget) that I looked up to before people started visiting my website. Now, this doesn't mean there's something wrong with the Coppermine -- it could just as easily be that the diagnostic program has problems, we've never heard of it before and can't necessarily trust it. After all, other diag programs have problems with newer model parts. Some versions of wcpuid, for instance, reports Athlon-700 as having "???" L2 multiplier and Coppermine as being a "Celeron III" sometimes. So this isn't a post intended to raise panic among you -- I just want to let you know of his findings so you can make your own decision about it.
