Jack - I like Carly too, but there is a dark side to the approach she has taken, which is all about the "new world" and pretty much ignores the current HP business except for those garage ads - and Dave and Bill did not develop any computers or printers in the garage!! I have good contacts at HP as I worked closely with HP engineering for more than 20 years and what I hear is that beneath the surface, many of the folks in the mainstream computer teams think that Carly has no idea of what they do or why and is treating the computer business as a cash cow to fund all of this internet stuff. Maybe, but that's a risky strategy and if key folks start to bolt from HP the miracle could fall apart. I am much more comfortable with the reconstruction job MC is doing. Carly's plan is a lot like Pfeiffer's in the sense that the new company needs to happen pretty fast as she is strip-mining the old one...
