Go back a few dozen posts on this board and you will see what I referred to about IBM using e.Digital's technology in their MicroDrive.

Did you miss the announcement about MayCom licensing the e.Digital design for the next generation iJam player?

RIO PORT IS NOT GOING TO CONTINUE MAKING A HANDHELD:

Rio's future is in selling content as a fully integrated offering---their own DRM, software player, clearing house etc.. The alliance with eDig is important in that they will be directing those wanting to manufacture a multicodec player to eDig. Every label will be similarly directing business to eDig.

I can easily foresee Dell and Compaq asking eDig to private label players for them. Watkins, CEO of Rio, has Dell and Compaq used to being their distributor in a bundling agreement. Hopefully, this may be as easy as passing the baton in a relay race.

UMG's selecting RNWK indicates to me that UMG couldn't get some part of their integrated in-house operation working right, thus their need to license someone's well-placed music player. UMG is giving up some profit here but it's probably going to save them time to get their site and their online customer's sites going. Wonder when they're going to wake up to the fact that the end/user customer still doesn't have a handheld player to use.

I believe I-Jam's player using our reference design gets out before this summer and may be the first to market with a true multi-codec feature. This will alert the big consumer electronic manufacturers that now is the time to commit.

Best to all:
