Re: [Referring to Bill] "How do you come up with stuff like this? I believe I've read every report online as well as some printed ones on this event, and no one has come up with this in their analysis except you."

He get's it where he get's his other stuff and where it comes from the sun never shines.

Re: "P.S.: Although I wouldn't know for sure, I'd bet lunch that INTC's receivables w.r.t. GTW are up to date. I don't think GTW would express all that hate, only for Intel to come back next week and say GTW is a deadbeat customer."

Actually GTW could use this as a perfect excuse. They get behind on their payments and Intel starts demanding payment or no more product, GTW can then cry that Intel is bulling them for using AMD products. Intel get's bashed and GTW skates! A perfect plan!

PB, I am voicing a suspicion. The direct model allowed Dell and GTW to grow fast. In addition there is not much meat on those bones, ie cash can get scarce as they try to operate with minimal cash on hand.
If $20 is peanuts, why did they rise toi that bait? That bait that has cost them 100's millions in sales.

PB, <I don't think GTW would express all that hate, only for Intel to come back next week and say GTW is a deadbeat customer.>

That's why the Intel-bashing statements made by Gateway's CEO were curious to say the least. Gateway could have easily picked up AMD once again as a supplier without much hoopla, but the tone of Gateway's statements sound much more harsh on Intel than they had to be. I wonder if Gateway's CEO knew that he was risking retribution from their number one supplier of CPUs, i.e. biting the hand that feeds it.

Maybe Michael Dell is chuckling in private right now.
