Richard : I don't think AIDS, in Africa, will have any effect on the world economy, let alone a serious effect. Africans have no buying power and are not consumers --- except for hand-outs from the West or obsolete military hardware from Russia.

Extrapolating the expected mortality figures for AIDS, starvation, tropical diseases, TB and military casualties I anticipate that in 50 years, or so, Africa will no longer be a continent for Africans --- if you get my drift.
