I sincerely doubt(but don't know for a fact) that HP is growing their own SiC. HP has for a very long time been a leader in supplying (world wide) LED brake lights for cars.

CREE does not make red.

I just verified it with my research partner.

He says, "Cree does not make red...red is a commodity business with ASP's around 5c and little margin...HP (agilent) among others makes those...cree only likes to play where they can dominate and maintain pricing power/margins..."
