Do you have children?

Hypothetical Situation:
Let's say that the Cuban government was holding your child against your will. You know that they think that the U.S. Government is immoral, don't you? So they would believe that they are protecting the child from the evil American government, when in fact, they would simply be stealing your child. And I doubt that there is any amount of political mumbo jumbo that would convince you that the Cuban government was doing you or your child a favor.

You mentioned the founding fathers of this country. I believe that they were true libertarians and would shun the current course of the republicans that are trying to keep Elian in this country. Whereas libertarians would shun communism, they would certainly honor someone's right to be a communist...as long as they did not try to impose it on them.

If you want to start throwing mud, don't bitch if it gets thrown back.

I didn't realize that you were one of the people that had the authority to keep Elian in this country. I didn't realize that I was throwing mud at you, but hey, if it stuck, great.

It is apparent that Eilan has become our next political pawn.

This is no longer about what is best for Eilan, we have lost focus on the issue at hand.

If an American child ended up on foreign soil for what ever reason we would demand that child be returned or there would be consequences.

No different that the "The Nanny Case" no longer being about justice in the death of Matty Eappan. But political positioning. What was best for relations between the two governments became the issue that justice was serving. No longer was it about the death of Matty Eappan, as what justice should have been serving.
