I think you will find that QCOM began last year as a $4 billion dollar company.
the $10 billion market cap was attained on March 31.

Yes, and April is when we got interested in buying Q. It settled the Ericson lawsuit, and that, combined with size, made the "gorillahood" obvious. We use 10 Billion as a "cut" here, to keep us out of small caps.

How many light bulbs do you own in your cars, boat, motor home, airplane, office and residence?

I can't see how a product with this type of markup is going to take over the light bulb market, unless it goes way down in price.

After the exchange we have had today, I now see CREE as a raw material manufacturer, who is ahead of the field, on a product that is "niche" at the moment.

For this product to break out of its niche position, it either must be such a breakthough item that the manufacturers must buy it at the present markup that CREE is getting, or there must be several vendors for the manufacturers to purchase from.

My conclusion, for now, is that it is too small to be picked up by my G&K screen. There are a lot of shiny pebbles, like this one, that you can make a buck on, if that is your style of investing.

I don't knock the fact that some people, posting to this board, may become "CREEionaires" from it over the next year.

IMO, it just does not fit this board yet.
