Hi fatboy, I saw your reference to lightbulbs on the main board...decided to respond over here. If we take it to the extreme: light bulbs. (but I not counting on this anytime soon!) Actually that is already happening..particularly in 12V apps. The bulbs in audi and vw dashboards have been replaced with cree led's. the new cadillac uses led's (not certain which kind) for brake lights. Signs are switching from conventional bulbs to led's. Later this year, I expect to see maplights in USA vehicles replaced with cree led's. I have seen a 60w (equivalent), 120v, led based lightbulb that is nearly identical to present day bulbs, except it uses far less energy and lasts much much longer. The products are here now. I have spoken to a GE lighting engineer who predicts LED lightbulb usage will grow very rapidly from here and will be mainstream in less than 10 years. unclewest
