1. An abduction would be quite bold. Whether it would be hard to do is debatable. If two or more men came up to you with a knife and said "get in the car or I'll kill you", would you a) remain calm, try to reason with them, b) yell and risk getting stabbed, or c) not take any chances they are not kidding and get in the car... and then try to plead for your life. As studies have shown (should we document this?), even people with training on how to react in a crises panic and forget what they've learned. I think I'd try to make a break for it, unless they had a very tight grip on me. Suzanne was atheletic, and although not as strong as a man, she was probably quick. It would have been worth a try. But as you say, you never really know how'll you'll react unless you find yourself in the situation. I was mugged once. It was a classic scippo : two kids on a motorbike come up behind you, drive just past you. They stop, and the one on the back jumps off, hooks your ankle, and BOOM, you suddenly find yourself flat on your back. Kid then grabs your bag. What did I do? I fought. Hung onto that bag like a tiger. But face it, you're not at your best when prone. After a couple of minutes he wrenched it away from me, jumped back on the bike, and they took off. Did I scream? Nope. Never occurred to me to do so. As they drove away, I did yell after them to keep the wallet and drop the bag, but of course they couldn't hear me. I also ran after 'em for a couple of blocks, but that was just adreneline pumping. On the other hand: a friend was to pick up another friend and then meet me for dinner. She was followed into the elevator of Other Friend's building by a guy who stopped the lift, pulled a knife, and told her to give him her money. She did so. She was in such a state of shock that she didn't even tell us about it tell we were halfway through the meal. She wasn't even angry; she felt somehow humiliated. I would have been as furious as I'd been with my muggers. So: we can't guess what Suzanne would have done. Unless we were to learn she'd been mugged before; she'd probably have reacted in the same way she did then.
