If the specs at Ace's are correct, this new Select system will have the EXACT same configuration as the PIII 500 special. And Ace's says this system will sell for $1299 which is within Gateway's "sweet spot". I assume AMD gave Gateway a good price on these Athlons because the 600 costs more than than the 500, probably even after the upcoming price drops. Customers are better off with an Athlon anyways, it is much faster than Katmai, which is what Gateway's special system has. Gateway must have confidence in AMD is they are putting an Athlon in one of their best selling price point computers.
