I was about to tell you that I'd already gone when I caught this in my inbox. It was when Continental was hovering on the brink and we had mucho FF miles. How to use them quickly, just in case, and do something wonderful? New Zealand occurred to both of us at the same time. We spent three weeks slowly visiting as much as possible of both islands. This was back in the early nineties. What a fascinating country, one that I look forward to revisiting! (One marvelous anecdote: At one of the many B&Bs at which we stayed, we were idly thumbing through the guest register when I spotted the name of a school friend whose acquaintance has extended into our professional lives. Was she ever astonished when I called to ask how she had enjoyed the place! It turned out that she had been on her honeymoon while staying there. We had a great time comparing notes on the rest of our NZ experiences. She will probably go back again as well.)
