<you are proposing that Suzanne walked the entire two miles from Phelps Gate in 30 minutes -- i.e. at 4 mph! -- the last 3/4 mile to the crime scene with 17 stab wounds to the head and a slit throat?! OK...> 1. You {Jeff} - and all the initial articles that addressed it - stated that the total distance from Phelps Gate to the intersection of Rock/Edgehill is 1.7 miles. 2. You - and several articles - stated that the Rink is One (1) mile from Phelps Gate. 3. You stated it is a 10 minute walk from Phelps Gate to the Rink. 4. IF Suzanne walked DIRECTLY to the crime scene , logically, the additional .7 miles would take 7 minutes to walk, for a total of 17 minutes. You talked about the "uphill;" therefore , I added 3 - 8 minutes for her to walk the full distance to the crime scene; HOWEVER , in my Scenario No. 1, she didn't walk to the crime scene, she walk to Jim's, which is closer to Phelps Gate than is the crime scene. {<== LOL - pardon the terrible grammar <g>, I'm trying to hurry. } 5. If your revised map is anywhere close to scale, it shows exactly what I proposed. If your map isn't close to scale, I have checked the Mapquest Map, and it is also consistent with the distances. { Mapquest recommends N. on College/Prospect ==> E. on Edwarda ==> N. on St. Ronan ==> {stop for stabbing} ==> N. on St. Ronan ===> Edgehill ===> E. Rock , which seemed much more logical to me when I read your map, than the route you "arrowed" {but knowing YOU would never have SJ in the immediate vicinity of JVdeV's apt. that night, I let it slide. =) } 6. I thought Jim lived near the intersection of St. Ronan & Highland, which is certainly NOT .75 miles from the crime scene. Your "3/4 of a mile" is extremely puzzling. That would be South of the Rink {ie. between Phelps Gate and the Rink}. 7. Suzanne was very athletic and in excellent physical condition. 8. I am >2x her age in '98; yet , when I am not travelling; I walk 3x per wk. w/2 men in their late 60's {which is still young these years}. We walk 4.3 miles in <40 mins, including some uphill to reach and cross a river bridge. On a slightly different note : The timing sure seems to fit with Suzanne being a participant in the argument and, the "utterer" of the scream, at 9:45 PM "one long block south" of the crime scene. IMO, she had ample time to stop and argue {with Jim ?} ---- or to stop at Jim's apartment. . {{ Good ol' SI won't let me "Respond" to Jeff's post to which this is a response. By the quote from his post, it should be obvious.}}
